Herbal Essences Dry Shampoo Uplifting Volume

Wednesday, 5 November 2014

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with dry shampoo because as much as I hate having to use it, it's an absolute godsend when I need to freshen up and I don't have time to perform the laborious task of washing, drying and styling my hair. I popped into Boots to replenish my Batiste stock and noticed this Herbal Essences offering which I'd never seen before. It was on offer for £1.99 instead of its normal £2.99 price tag so I decided to give it a whirl. The honest verdict? Get me a can of Batiste. While the sleek packaging and citrus scent are both winning aspects, the product isn't great. Once shaken and sprayed, it dispenses more wet than dry and initially doesn't appear to do much. After about 30 seconds it develops and is ready to be rubbed in, by which time I've kind of forgotten about it. It doesn't have the instant effect Batiste has and it actually makes my hair feel wet, making it look greasier, instead of having the opposite effect. Once it's developed and rubbed in it's fine, but for me, dry shampoo is meant to be a quick, easy and instant fix which this unfortunately isn't.
