The Wonderful Weekend

Friday, 10 October 2014

Living with your two best friends is a luxury, especially when you're all on the same course as it means you can go through the stress of it together because you all just totally get each other. After the most overwhelming first week of third year, we decided to have an 'us' weekend. On Friday, both of the girls were out for the evening so I made stuffed peppers which were incredible. It was the first time I'd ever made them and I'll definitely be making them again. I decided I wanted a little pick-me-up so I booked flights to Amsterdam for New Year's Eve. My best friend from home is on placement over there at the moment so me and two of the other girls from home are flying out on New Year's Eve. We're planning on going on the HedKandi River Cruise which is essentially one big boat party which looks amazing. We're going to spend the following two days being tourists before flying back on the Saturday. It's always nice to have something to look forward to during a period of stress and hard work and booking a city break in Amsterdam was exactly what I needed.

On Saturday night we all made cookies so we could sit down and indulge while watching The X Factor. Georgia made Udis Gluten-free cookies which you can read all about here. I didn't think they'd taste as good as they did, so I was pleasantly surprised. Me and Abby followed a normal cookie recipe and put caramel nibbles and white chocolate buttons in them. We had so many but they were great treats throughout the week. We all snuggled on the sofa and swooned over Jake Quickenden before getting into bed for a well-deserved early night. I'd promised myself that Sunday would be productive so I started my morning with tea, toast and Gone Girl (which, by the way, is SO good I can't even explain) before having a bit of a spring clean and completing various jobs including sorting out my floordrobe into an actual, functional wardrobe. I set all of my Uni work up on the breakfast bar which is a great little space to kickstart motivation and fuel productivity. I had such a relaxing yet productive weekend and it's just a shame that every weekend won't be as indulgent. Sob.
