Third Year Thoughts

Friday, 15 August 2014

In one month exactly I'll be moving back to Nottingham for my third and final year at Nottingham Trent University which terrifies and excites me at the same time. It terrifies me because it's my last ever year as a University student and means I have to enter the big wide world when I graduate. But it's also incredibly exciting. Although third year will be undoubtedly stressful, there's some amazing things to look forward to. The thing I'm most gutted about is that it'll be a year full of lasts. Last year of study, last sports tour, last year as part of Trent Dance, last Sports Ball and last Ocean Wednesday. But it means so many more memories and so many more opportunities. I'm moving into the cutest flat with my two best friends and I'm determined to make it the best year yet, starting by spending the first ten days fresher repping which was one of my favourite experiences from last year so I'm excited to do it all over again.

When people say University goes quickly, they're not kidding. I can't believe around two years ago I had just found out I got into Trent and now I'm a month away from entering final year. As busy as the year ahead is going to be, I'm going to make a conscious effort not to neglect my social life. Obviously getting a good degree is my main priority, but to keep my sanity I'm going to ensure I make time to relax, socialise and still have fun. Something else that I'm beyond excited for is next September when I'm jetting off to Thailand with Abby and Georgia to go travelling for three months. After Thailand, we're going to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji and we're booking our flights at the beginning of next year. I've wanted to travel for a long time and I'm so grateful that I'm finally getting the opportunity to explore different countries and cultures. So although it's a scary thought knowing that three years of studying for my journalism degree is coming to an end, it's also opening up a world of opportunities and adventures.

    1. Aw, sounds like we're in a very similar boat! I'm sure we'll feel less excited and more petrified as soon as the work starts flooding in!X

  2. In a month I'll be off back to Newcastle Uni for my final year and I'm equally excited and terrified! I'm also making a conscious effort not to neglect my social life, as important as a degree is, uni is the only time you can justify going out on a weeknight and life is too short to not have fun in the last year :) x

    1. I completely agree, if you waste your final year you'll work yourself into the ground and completely regret not making the most of your social life. Good luck!X

    1. It's so sad isn't it!? There's a travel agent called STA in Nottingham (I think they're located all over England) and if you have a rough idea or no idea of where you want to go they help you decide and plan. They're really friendly and super helpful too!X
