A Sunny Saturday

Wednesday, 19 March 2014

This post is a little picture heavy, but the pictures are pretty. Promise. It's not often I throw these kind of lifestyle posts into the mix but I wanted to branch out and put my Canon 600D to good use. Ready for the news flash? There's even some outfit pics lurking at the bottom. Say what? But you never do outfit pics. I know, I know, but today I'm treatin' ya. Sit back, relax and enjoy my sunny Saturday shenanigans.

How pretty is this lake? It's in a place called the Arboretum which is a few minutes walk away from me. It's hard to believe it's so close to the hustle and bustle of the city centre. It was nice and quiet for a Saturday too. Fun fact: home to over 800 trees. Oosh.

There's nothing much to do, it's more somewhere you go to have a wander, enjoy the weather and maybe take a little picnic if you're feeling peckish. There's this cute little bird enclosure opposite the pond which is kinda cool. Not that I'm a bird watcher or anything...

Of course I couldn't leave until I'd snapped these pretty daffodils. These flowers literally scream spring and they're pleasing on the eye too. There were lots dotted about which made me very happy indeed. I wasn't quite brave enough to get on one knee and get an up close shot. Maybe next time.

There's a few different routes you can follow and different paths lead you off to different places. I thought this archway was pretty cute so I figured I'd show ya. The man wasn't planned. I was going to wait for him to walk on by, but he was a very slow walker. Soz.

I think this part is one of my faves. In brief, there's a little statue in the middle with a canon and it's surrounded by pretty plants and bushes. There's a path surrounding it in a circle and it's tucked away from the rest of the greenery.

I've just realised that my whole outfit besides my bag is from New Look. Completely unplanned. It wasn't warm enough for shorts so I opted for these Black Geo Print Slim Leg Trousers with a black crop top with straps. I got it a couple of years ago but you can get a similar one here.

I know you can't see my face very close up, but if you're wondering what I've got on my lips, I'm wearing the Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Striking. Beaut colour. I've created loose waves with my GHDs and my hair is slowly but surely growing. L'Oreal Colour Riche Pearle De Jade is my nail colour of choice.

It wasn't warm enough to not wear a jacket as the English weather is very unpredictable. It got quite cold when the wind blew so I wore this Light Blue Premium Denim Jacket with these Koko Black Toe Post Flat Sandals. I've got L'Oreal Colour Riche Scarlet Vamp on my tootsies.

My bag is from River Island but I can't find it on the website so I don't think they stock it any more. I did get it for Christmas but they have some similar versions here and here. I'm usually obsessed with structured bags but this is the perfect slouchy, casual bag for everyday use.

No, I didn't go alone and set my tripod up. My lovely gal pal Abby came along. She blogs over here and does a lot more outfit posts than me so suggested taking some snaps if the weather was nice, hence why I took some too. Thanks Ab for the little push.

We clearly like dressing head to toe in one shop because Abby's leather jacket, top and leggings are all from Topshop. Her shoes are Primark and her bag Zara but head over to her blog linked above for an OOTD post and all the deets.

There's no way we could have completed our lifestlye/outfit outing without taking some 'I'm pretending that I'm unaware of this photo being taking when infact I know full well your camera's in my face' kind of pictures. Cue natural poses. Cute pic though. I like this one of her outfit.

I thought I'd throw a bit of black and white in the mix. How edgy of me. After we'd had a little wander we popped to the pub for a drink and discussed our lives. No DMCs, just general girl chit chat over a soda and lime. Gorgeous summer drink and cheap as chips too.

We then nipped home, ate and got ready to go for cocktails. If you follow me on Instagram you'll see I posted this pic of my Cranberry Fizz. Very strong, but delicious. We headed to the Royal Concert Hall for A Night In The West End. Our friend Georgia was dancing in it and we had such a lovely evening.

I changed my trousers for a black and cream tie dye maxi skirt from Primark and topped up my makeup. I had such a lovely Saturday in the sun and really enjoyed taking these pics. If you liked this lifestyle/outfit post please let me know as I'd love to do a few more.

What did you get up to at the weekend?
