2014: New Year's Resolutions

Wednesday, 1 January 2014

Do what makes you happy, be with who makes you smile, laugh as much as you breathe, love as long as you live.

Who even sticks to New Year's resolutions? Because I don't. We all kid ourselves into thinking that this is going to be the year to get fit, change jobs, embark upon new opportunities, but the truth is, the days merge into weeks, the weeks blur into months and before we know it, it's December again and our New Year's resolutions were left behind on January 12th. Don't get me wrong, I think resolutions can be helpful in kick-starting things what with a fresh calender year, but I also find the whole thing a little far fetched at times.

This may seem a little contradictory as I've just said I don't believe many people actually stick to their New Year's resolutions, but maybe one day I'll surprise myself. Nonetheless I'm going to set myself five resolutions for 2014. I'm going to treat them as things I'd like to stick to instead of things I say I'll definitely stick to by making sure they're reasonable and not completely out of reach. I wonder if by 2015 I'll have ticked any off. We'll see.

1. Complete the couch to 5k app
2. Go to the gym at least once a week
3. Get a new blog design
4. Buy a new camera
5. Drink more water

What resolutions are you setting for yourself? Have you ever stuck to any for the entire year?

  1. I agree with what you've said about making resolutions, which is why this year I've decided to make just one: do more. Looking forward to seeing what you get up to in 2014 and good luck with your goals, especially the couch to 5k app. I'd be interested to see how that goes, I know a couple of people who are doing it! x

    1. Sounds good, a nice and simple resolution which is achievable! Thank you, I'll definitely do a post or series of posts on the couch to 5k app providing I actually get round to completing it, haha!X

    1. I'd like to see a post on yours if you make any :) I always say I'll drink more and I don't. Think I need to buy a 2 litre bottle and keep it full on my desk all day. That way I have no excuse!X

  3. Those are good resolutions. I definitely need to get into more exercise and drink more water, but then I said that last year, as well....This year I'm putting more effort into my blog. Having graduated last summer, this is the first year I've actually had spare time to really give it my full attention. So I'm excited to see what happens with that! Plus all the usual exercise 'promises' hah. Happy new year :)
