FAMILY TIME

Sunday, 8 December 2013

Last Saturday my family came up to visit me in Nottingham. There's a cute little Christmas market every year and this year it was laden with stalls and an ice rink. Nottingham is a lovely place, especially when it's all Christmassy and lit up, so my mum, dad, nan, grandad and other nan came for a little day trip. We started by going for a Costa as it was a little chilly outside. I went for a honeycomb hot chocolate as it's my new favourite. So delicious and festive, mm. We then had a wander round the shops and I pointed out some bits that I'd like for Christmas.

We went into The Body Shop as my friend had given me some vouchers for 50% off. I needed a new eye make up remover so bought one from there as it was £4 instead of £8 with the voucher. I also bought my secret Santa present for work which was fun to choose. I'm loving the eye make up remover so I'll be sure to post a review once I've used it a little more. Next we went to the Christmas market and had a look round some of the stalls. There are some really cute vintage bits and pieces and little cream wooden plaques with messages on.

I didn't go on the ice rink as I'm awful at ice skating, but it was funny watching other people on it. There were little legs going everywhere and the majority of people were holding on to the railing all the way round. At £8.50 a pop I wasn't willing to embarrass myself and get a wet bum at the same time. Needing to get out of the cold we went to The Slug and Lettuce for lunch which is one of my favourite places to go for food. I had a chicken burger with chips which was yummy and we had a nice catch up over food.

We wandered round the shops until it was dark so we could enjoy the Christmas market when it was dark and all lit up. It's such a lovely atmosphere and I enjoyed walking around smelling the amazing food and spending time with my family. I had the most amazing skewer with brownie pieces and marshmallows covered in melted chocolate. Needless to say I struggled sharing! Christmas is probably my favourite time of year and such a family orientated time for me. It was so lovely to see them all and spend the day together and now I'm back home for Christmas for a month which makes me so excited.

Do you have a Christmas market near you? What festive things do you like to do? Sorry about the quality of the family pics, they were taken on my mum's phone.
