I CAN'T SAY NO TO A FREEBIE

Sunday, 3 November 2013

When I heard Superdrug had a 3 for 2 offer on I was in there like a shot. I desperately needed some new make-up but my bank account is a little worse for wear at the moment so I'd been waiting for a deal to crop up. I picked up the Bourjois Happy Light Foundation in N52 Light Beige, Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in 004 Sandstorm, LO'real Lumimagique Pearl Powder in Rose Boudoir and Bourjois 24hr Colour Edition Eye Shadow in 03 Petale de glace.

I'd previously been using Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation which I really like, so I wanted to stick to Bourjois and try out another foundation. The Happy Light is a fairly new release so I thought I'd give it a go. I tend to opt for medium/full coverage because I suffer with slight redness on my cheeks and blemishes so I thought I'd try this one out as it claims to correct imperfections without masking. I'm not ready to give it a full review yet as I haven't been using it long but my first impressions are great. It provides long-lasting medium coverage which can be built up. It corrects impurities such as redness and gives a fairly flawless finish. It's meant to give a luminous, undetectable and natural finish and it definitely deserves a tick in the luminous department. It gives a healthy glow as you can see from the picture of the foundation blended on the right hand side. So far, so good.

I didn't really feel the need to swatch this as it's been circulating the blogosphere for god knows how long now, so everybody knows what it looks like, what it does and how great it is. It's a general all-purpose powder to remove any shine, keep your make-up put and give a matte finish, and that's exactly what it does. I like to apply this with my Real Techniques Blush Brush all across my face after blending in my foundation.

This really intrigued me when I saw it in Superdrug because at a first glance it looks like a highlighter, but it is infact a pearl powder. It's meant to mattify, highlight and give a radiant healthy glow. I don't really agree with the matify part because it's shimmery, but it's certainly not overpowering. If you want to notice it on your face you do need to use a fair bit, but the beauty of it is that if you only use a little, it catches the light and gives an effortless glow. As you can see from the swatch it's a gorgeous white rose colour and has a beautiful shimmer to it. I love the circular detail in the pan and so far I'm really enjoying using it.

This was one of those products that I tried my hardest not to buy, but couldn't resist. I know it sounds silly but it's the most gorgeous colour. If you think it looks nice in the pot and in the swatch, then you'll be even more in love when you see it with your very own eyes. I think I'd describe it as a blush pink. I'd never usually buy anything pink for my eyes, but this is so subtle and I love the metallic finish. I wouldn't say it's true to its 'cream to powder' formula because it still looks fairly creamy on the eye, but I'm not bothered about that. It's a dream for those who aren't so good at blending because you literally apply with a brush, make sure there are no harsh lines or edges and you're good to go. I think I'll be wanting more of these!

So you may notice my 3 for 2 post includes four items, but in true beauty blogger style I couldn't decide between the pearl powder and eye shadow, so of course, I had to have both - oops. What have you been buying lately?
