OMBRE TEMPTATION

Tuesday, 22 October 2013

I have serious ombre envy. I can't stop thinking about ombre hair - I want ombre hair. I've been umming and aahing over it for a good few weeks now but I still don't know whether I can fully commit. Temptation is ever-growing as I'm forever seeing beautiful ombre-haired girls all over my Instagram and Pinterest feeds, but I just don't know whether the luscious two-toned locks will look just as cool and effortless on me. I feel like I'm one of those people who envisages something to look amazing, but when it becomes a reality, on myself, I hate it. One thing that is holding me back is the prep - to achieve my desired ombre look I'm probably (okay, definitely) going to have to bleach my hair. Bleach my hair that I've been trying to grow for god knows how long? What a fantastic idea. If I wait until my hair has reached my desired length, ombre will probably be 'so last year' and I'll be walking around with ombre hair that quite frankly just looks lazy and unkept, not cool like it was once upon a time. I do really want ombre hair, but for one, I don't know how it will actually turn out which scares me and secondly, I don't want to damage my hair by smothering peroxide all over the ends. What is a girl to do?

I'd be really interested to hear whether any of you have ombre hair or know anyone who has bought an ombre home kit and has come out with successful results. If you have any tips or suggestions I'd love to hear them!

  1. Do it! I used an ombre at home kit! I have written a full review and shown before and after pictures on my blog! My Instagram has more recent photos with my ombre hair which are better! But take a look:

  2. I love ombre hair and have always wanted it myself! I'd say go for it, if it goes wrong (which i'm sure it wouldn't) at least you're only dying the ends of your hair rather than the top!xx

    1. Yeah this is very true, I think I'm more worries about damaging my hair than it looking silly. I've been trying to grow it for so long and I'd hate to ruin all progress! Think I need to give it a little more thought before I make a decision!X

I love it and it hasn't ruined the condition of my hair at all really :) nothing like when I used to dye it all blonde! If you have any other questions ask me on twitter! xxxx

    1. Ooh thanks Cate I've just read it! I agree, it's not too drastic which is nice! Dark hair with bleach blonde ends would look a little odd! It looks lovely on you though, I'm very tempted! Thank you, I'll be in touch if I need some more advice!X

  4. I did it when there was the initial hype it about! You sound just like me Nicole I was so scared about it but so tempted! Even though I already have long hair I told myself I can just cut it out if I hate it, but I was still so on edge about doing it as I had never dyed my before!
Anyway with the push of my flat mate I plucked up the courage to do it. And although I didn't regret it I eventually grew it out as my hair is dark I thought it would take a lot of upkeep. So it's been cut out now but it was a nice fun change to have and didn't damage my hair like I thought it would :)
Good luck if you decide to for it :)

    1. Ah thanks Ellie! So many people are loving ombre and saying it hasn't ruined their hair which is great! I just think I'm a bit of a wuss and need to just take the plunge and do it! Maybe I'll wait a little longer for it to grow a few inches just in case my hair doesn't take well to it!X
