WELCOME TO MY ROOM

Sunday, 22 September 2013

I love it when bloggers unveil different parts of their home and show their viewers/readers how their rooms/houses are decorated. As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm extremely nosy, so these kind of posts are my favourite to read. I love to see how other people store/organise/decorate so I thought I'd do a room tour post to show you guys my bedroom at university. I'm only going to briefly talk about each photo, so if you do have any more questions about where certain things are from etc, please leave a comment below. Let's get started.

1. A long shot of my room - it makes it look very cramped but it's actually very spacious. My bathroom is just on the right before my wardrobe. My bed used to be vertically where my drawers and laundry basket are, but I moved it round to create more space.

2. This is the bed corner of my room so this little wooden table/stack or whatever it is is very useful. My wicker heart, fairy lights, lamp, clock and photo make it very cosy. The One Direction alarm clock was a leaving present from work, so obviously, it has to take pride of place next to my bed.

3. I just wanted to draw attention to my lamp because it's so pretty. As you can see from the picture, when the light is off, the lamp creates such a cute little pattern on the wall. It creates a really nice chilled out and relaxed atmosphere which is perfect.

4. This is something else I wanted to point out because it's probably one of my favourite things in my room. Firstly I love the cute floral patterns and secondly, I love the quote. It reads 'follow your heart, do something you love everyday, spread a little happiness'.

5. This is my incredible view. You see the big white building on the right? That's my uni so I literally roll out of bed and rock up to my lectures. I couldn't be in a more perfect location which is one of the many reasons why I love university life here in Nottingham.

6. This is one of my favourite sections because it's very organised. I don't have a desk in my room at home so I really enjoy having one here. The storage/shelves are perfect because everything has a place - including all of my Barry M polishes which are lined up in about 4 rows. The cubbyholes are great for organising things and the little sections divide everything up perfectly.

7. I stupidly forgot to order pictures and STILL haven't found the time to do it what with Fresher repping and being back at uni. I needed to improvise because my pin board was very bland and boring, so I ripped out pages from a Topshop magazine and created this little collage. I actually really like it so I think I'm going to keep it and find another home for all my pictures.

8. More storage and more wicker baskets surprise surprise. These have all my products in and the drawers have all my underwear in. I love cute wicker baskets like these as they make for great storage. I've also created some necklace hangers with a couple of pins so they don't get all tangled.

9. This is my little en-suite which is perfect. I have my own sink, mirror, showers and toilet in my room which I love. The shower is just behind as you can see in the mirror, the toilet is to the left, and the sink is beneath this shelf. Do you see a continuing theme of wicker baskets? Yep, I love them. It keeps all of my daily bathroom products neat and tidy.

So there we have it - my uni room. It's not the plushest room you've ever seen, but uni rooms are generally quite basic and you're limited as to how you can decorate them, so you have to make the best of it. I've incorporated my own style into my room and have added personal touches which give it a very calm and relaxed vibe. All my cute cream and floral pieces all add to the tone of the room and overall I'm really happy with it. I just can't wait for the day when I have my own room in my own house so I can decorate it however I wish.

What do you think of my room? Is there anything you think I should add?

    1. I certainly have! Which is odd because my room always becomes cluttered but I've managed to maintain it so far! My en suite is very handy :) X
