L'OREAL MICELLAR SOLUTION

The infamous L'Oreal Micellar Solution. Most bloggers who use these kind of water/solution type products tend to be drawn towards this or Bioderma. I personally went for this one, firstly because it was on offer and we all know a girl can never turn down a bargain, and secondly because it was a new release and I was intrigued to see whether it did what it claims to do. It's a '3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution' which is meant to dissolve make-up, unclog pores, remove impurities and tone and smooth the skin. As it stands, I have a bit of a love hate relationship with this product.

I do believe that it removes most of the traces of make-up on your face, but I still found slight colour coming off on a cotton pad when using a toner afterwards. The solution is so soft and gentle on the skin and almost has a slight buttery feel to it. It isn't acidic when it comes into contact with the skin and it is a really pleasant skincare routine step. It's a very quick and easy process and I did find that my skin always felt smooth and soft afterwards. The only issue I have is that I think it may have caused a breakout. My skin had been bad for around four to five weeks and I constantly had a few spots on my face. When one started to clear up, another one would rear its ugly head and I was stuck in a viscous cycle.

It wasn't until I realised that I'd been using this product for around the same amount of time that I thought it could be linked. The solution wasn't irritating to the touch, but maybe the ingredients didn't react well with my skin once absorbed, causing all the spots on my face to come out to play at once. I got to the point where I was sick of always having unclear skin that I stopped using this and have moved onto Clinique products which have really cleared my skin up. I'm not saying that this product 100% caused a breakout as it could be a complete and utter coincidence, but I'm going to repurchase this again once my skin is completely clear and gradually reintroduce it to see whether my skin flares up again.

Just a quick note - I'm currently using the anti blemish range from Clinique which I'm absolutely loving. I've only been using it for eight days so far so I'm going to give it a good three to four weeks and then get some reviews going. I don't want to speak too soon, but the range of products I'm using are producing great results and I'm thoroughly impressed so keep your eyes peeled.

Have you tried this Micellar Solution? What did you think?

  1. I have been using this recently as my regular cleanser had ran out and found my skin broke out too! I wasn't sure if it was coincidence or not because everyone else seems to be loving it! xx

    1. Aw I'm glad it's not just me who thinks this might not be all it's cracked up to be! I really like how smooth and gentle the formula is I just wish I knew whether it was this which caused the breakout, because like you said, everybody else seems to be raving about it!X

    1. I think it's good to try both because this is a cheaper alternative to Bioderma, especially when it's on offer! The majority of people love it, as do I, in terms of the feel/packaging/texture of my skin after use, I'm just unsure whether it caused my break out! Xxx

  3. I have compared the two on my blog! I have also had a bad breakout of spots and couldn't decide if it was this or my new foundation. But either way I have stopped using this and Im back and loving my Bioderma!
