Classic Winter Looks

Tuesday, 20 August 2013

Before you read the title of this post and start thinking why the hell is she planning winter outfits, we're still in August for goodness sake, just let me stop you right there. I need to explain. Coats, boots and bags are my three biggest nightmares. I absolutely love having gorgeous winter essentials, but I find them extremely difficult to shop for. I am the fussiest person in the world when it comes to these three essentials, so for me, perfect winter outfits take a considerable amount of preparation. If I know what I want, then I can start looking. But I guarantee that if I go out on a whim, I won't find anything. A buckle, string or tassle out of place and I turn my nose up and wander along to the next option. I'm not even exaggerating - my mum hates coming shopping with me for boots and coats especially, because every single choice she points out, I do the whole really mum, are you serious? thing and wander round the shop three more times hoping something will jump out at me. There are some gorgeous winter options online right now and I kid you not, in the next couple of weeks they'll start creeping into the shops ready for the beginning of September. I believe that you need to prep for winter with a sturdy (but lovely, obviously) pair of boots, a killer coat and a gorgeous handbag. Don't ask me why but I like to change things up a little bit and have a few options when it comes to winter wear, so here are my two essential winter outfit picks for you.

Let's start with the black and cream combination. This is such a classic look which I really love. Even though you want to be warm in winter, you can certainly still be stylish. These boots were a hit last winter and they've stayed firmly on the fashion radar. This Topshop pair are only £45 which I think is incredibly reasonable given they're bound to last a hell of a long time. This Zara shopper is so ideal and matches the boots beautifully. At only £29.99, it would be rude not to. Lastly, I love this coat. It is a little on the expensive side at £75 from Miss Selfridge, but I've seen an almost identical one in Primark for £25. This outfit would be complete with a black furry headband to keep your ears warm, a thick black snood and a pair of chunky black gloves.

Now for the second look. Khaki and tan work so well together so it would be silly not to make a winter outfit with this colour combination. Khaki parka's never seem to go out of fashion and are pretty much on a loop every winter. This one is really lovely and looks super warm what with the fur lining. There's nothing worse than being cold during the winter and I'm positive you wouldn't suffer from frostbite with this daddy of all coats. The tan boots look very sturdy as well as being utterly gorgeous. They may be £65 from Topshop, but I reckon you'd get lots of wear out of them which doesn't make the price seem as bad. This winter outfit is topped off with this gorgeous Zara bag. Again, a little on the expensive side at £69.99, but I'm sure there's a cheaper alternative on the high street somewhere. This look is a little more casual than the black and cream one but equally as gorgeous. I'll definitely be investing in six similar essentials to keep me warm yet on top fashion form this winter.

Which is your favourite?
