Saturday Antics

Yesterday we were blessed with the most beautiful weather which got me feeling all summery. It's been lovely all week so it's a real treat that it continued throughout the weekend. Although I have a full-time summer job, I went back to my old job yesterday to help out with the infamous Next sale. In all honesty, I think it's lost its hype as it was dead for the first few hours which is unheard of. Usually there's loonies queuing from the early hours ready to pounce on the first half price item they see. I was up at the crack of dawn and started work at 5.30am which was probably the best time to start because it meant I got to finish at 12.30pm and enjoy the rest of the gorgeous weather. An old friend also worked the sale and we had a whole load of catching up to do as she'd spent the last year in France studying and has only just got back. We chatted while we shopped which proves just how good us girls are at multitasking!

Anyway, I didn't go crazy because I'm trying to be sensible with money, but I did pick up a few summer bits which I've had my eye on for a while. Now, I must be the only blogger in the blogosphere who doesn't own a Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine nail polish - until now. I honestly don't know why I haven't bought one sooner because I'm Barry M's number one fan when it comes to nail polishes. There was a three for two offer across all nail polishes in Superdrug so I treated myself to three Gelly Hi-Shine colours. The bright summery shades instantly caught my eye so I went for Mango, a gorgeous bright orange, Guava, a bold sky blue and Passion Fruit, a striking reddy-pink. Not only that, but I've had my eye on the Clinique Chubby Stick so wanted to try a cheaper alternative before splashing out on the real deal. I don't gel too well with glossy textures and I'm more of a matte girl, but these crayon-like lip products intrigue me. There were four colour choices on offer in the MUA Power Pout range but I opted for Runway, a bright coral/pink and Crazy In Love, a deep berry/plum colour as they were two for four pounds.

In total, these five products only cost me £12 which I think is incredibly affordable. As much as I'm lusting after the Clinique version, I recently saw Corrie from dizzybrunette3 showcase a peach and coral Colour Boost Lip Crayon from Bourjois in one of her recent blog posts. They look gorgeous on her and has made me even more eager to buy them. The colours look a lot more subtle than my MUA ones which I think I'll keep for nightwear. I think the Bourjois ones can be worn more easily in the day so I might just go and have to buy myself one... or two. I've already tried out my three Gelly Hi-Shine polishes and opted for multicoloured nails because I couldn't quite decide which one to try first. The colours are all gorgeous and I'm really loving the shine. This prevents the need for a clear top coat to give a glossy finish which is a god-send when you're in a rush.

What summer make-up do you think is a must?
