Bright Is Right

Thursday, 25 July 2013

It's payday today and it's Friday tomorrow so right now, I'm a very happy girl. Now that I've got a few pennies in my account and the sunny weather seems to be a little more consistent, I thought I'd have a browse on the Topshop website and pick out some key summer dresses. I struggle with maxi maxi dresses sometimes as they can cling in all the wrong places, so I tend to avoid jersey material and go for something a little lighter. In terms of shorter dresses, I love styles which are fitted at the top, cinch me in at the waist and then float slightly. These types of dresses really suit me and flatter my figure. I think it's incedibly important to dress for your shape despite how much you love a piece of clothing. If it doesn't suit you, it should remain on the hanger in the shop.

Now the first thing you'll probably notice about my five choices are that they're all very bold and bright. I have a habit of choosing black because it's a very flattering colour, but this summer I've really tried hard to branch out and add a splash of colour into my wardrobe. All of these patterns and colours scream summer and would be lovely for a day time or evening occasion. They can be dressed down with sandals and an oversized handbag, or dressed up with a pair of heels or wedges, some accessories and a bold lip. I'm not going to go crazy and buy all five of these because knowing my luck, the minute I get them home we'll be stuck with rain for the next three months, but I might treat myself to one or two for being a hard little worker.

What do you think of these dresses? Do you prefer maxi dresses or short dresses?

  1. I love the three short dresses on this post, such lovely colours and perfect for summer! I tend to wear short dresses but occasionally I wear my maxi, depends on the mood. Lovely blog :)
