A Splash Of Colour

Sunday, 23 June 2013

When it comes to clothes, black is my favourite colour. It's practical, it's flattering and it goes with pretty much anything, so it's no surprise why my wardrobe is full to the brim with black garments. I really shouldn't have spent any money over the weekend, but I decided that if I stepped out of my comfort zone and went for a little splash of colour, then I could treat myself. I haven't really bought any summer clothes yet so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to. River Island have some gorgeous bits in store at the moment so it was extremely hard to limit myself to these three items.

The first thing I picked up was this orange cropped knit jumper. I was instantly drawn to the bright shade and thought it would be the perfect pop of colour to brighten up any outfit. I've got a pair of skirt dungarees which will look nice with this jumper underneath, and it'll also look nice with high waisted denim jeans and shorts. You might think I'm mad buying a piece of knitwear at the end of June, but if the present weather is anything to go by, then this jumper will be getting a lot of wear.

If the sun does decide to make an appearance though, this pink cami will be my go-to summer piece. I was incredibly tempted to buy the black because 'it goes with everything', but I stuck to my word and bought the brightest colour option possible. Luckily, colour tends to suit me, I just think that I'm so used to wearing blacks and more neutral colours, that it's just a habit to reach for anything black in sight. This cami is actually really pretty and the material is really light which is great for those summer days. Again, this will look good with anything denim and can be worn casually or dressed up.

My last purchase was this necklace. I was instantly drawn to it when I saw it hanging in between two items in the store. The gold plate and black rope combo makes it look a lot more expensive than it is and I have to say I was very impressed by the £8 price tag. It can be worn with pretty much anything and is just a very simple yet stylish piece of jewellery. I'm definitely going to keep an eye out in River Island for necklaces because for £8 you really can't go wrong.

What summer items have you treated yourself to?
