Sunday Haul

Wednesday, 8 May 2013

I went shopping on Sunday and couldn't resist picking up a few bits and pieces. It's very rare that I actually go shopping and return home without buying something, I just can't help myself. I decided it would be a good idea to pick up a few summer essentials to spruce up my wardrobe. Denim seems to be here there and everywhere at the moment and I actually saw lots of lovely pieces in the shops. I've wanted a pair of dungarees for ages but if you've seen my recent wishlist then you'll know about the denim skater skirt dungarees that I want. I think they're such a cute alternative to the shorts version, so when I saw one for £21.99 in New Look, I knew I wasn't leaving without it.

I have plenty of little crop tops to wear underneath and the skater skirt is really flattering and very comfortable. Another denim item I knew I wanted, well kind of needed, were a pair of denim shorts. I have two lovely pairs of denim shorts, but one pair are extremely bummy, so I wear them with tights and boots in the winter, or on holiday over a bikini, and the other pair aren't bummy but tend to rise up a lot meaning I'm constantly pulling them down which isn't a good look when you're walking down the street. So I was adamant that I'd find a nice pair of comfortable, well-fitting denim shorts, and I did. The pair I got are a mid denim colour and are high waisted. They come with a  tan belt which is really cute and will look good teamed with a crisp white top and tan boat shoes. I like high waisted shorts as it means I can wear crop tops with them without feeling overly exposed with my legs and stomach out. At £19.99 they were a steal as you normally have to pay around £30-£40 in Topshop or Miss Selfridge.

That was all I bought on the clothes front, but I couldn't leave without picking up some beauty bits and pieces. This time I opted for hair products. I never normally use heat defence spray, and for a girl who straightens her hair most days, I need to sincerely apologise to my hair for neglecting it for so long. I picked up the Tresemme heat defence spray which was around £3.50 from Superdrug. I love the look of Tresemme products as the brand design and packaging is really slick. I think it's the whole 'salon professional' thing that wins me over. I'm really not a fan of dry shampoo as it always makes me feel a bit gross, contrary to every other girl in the world who loves it. I know it's like deodorant for hair, but I really don't dig it. Despite this, it's so frustrating when you feel like your hair will see you through another day, only to wake up and realise you've developed greasy fringe syndrome overnight. A cheap and cheerful 99p Superdrug own brand dry shampoo was more than good enough for me as it'll probably last about four years seeing as I will only be using it when desperate times call for desperate measures.

Sadly that was as far as my bank balance would stretch this week so I'm going to have to give it a little break... until my next hall, obviously. Have you treated yourself to anything nice on a haul lately?
