Mini Haul

Saturday, 18 May 2013

The reason this haul is a mini one is because I only bought five items, all of which are little bits and pieces, not clothes. Therefore I thought this post deserved the title of a mini haul, plus, it sounds cute. On to the actual shopping then... I thought I'd keep purchases to a minimum and pick up a few bits and pieces to freshen up my accessory and beauty collection. I really like each item and it makes a nice change buying items to finish off an outfit, rather than  buying the main components.

Primark is great when you want to go on a haul because everything is so cheap. The prices have been creeping up recently, but they are still a lot cheaper than most high street stores. While I was having a mooch around, I happened to spot these gorgeous sandals hanging up in between a few dresses. All my summer sandals are either tatty or broken so I was immediately inclined to buy them. A lot of studded sandals I've seen around have been black with silver studs, but I actually really like the black on black flat studs. I think they give the sandals a bit of character and will be perfect to throw on with a little summer dress. At only £6 I really couldn't walk away without buying them.

How lovely is this silver layered necklace? I said in my wishlist post that I wanted a bright necklace, and although this isn't bright, I loved it as soon as I saw it. I like wearing a statement necklace to break up a block colour and just couldn't resist. My silver Pandora bracelet is practically glued to my wrist so I like having silver necklaces so I don't have to take it off (I'm really funny about mismatching colours). I was pleasantly surprised with how many nice pieces of jewellery there was in Primark and could have easily picked up more. I limited myself to the one and after deliberating between two different silver ones I'm glad I went for this option.

I'm not sure about you but I struggle to say no to a 3 for 2 deal. Barry M were offering three items for the price of two in Superdrug, and after popping in for the pastel yellow nail varnish, I ended up leaving with a purple nail varnish and a lipstick too. Oops. I am forever adding to my nail varnish collection and as an avid Barry M fan I just couldn't say no. I debated between the Kate Moss lipstick by Rimmel in a similar shade to this Barry M one, but decided to go for the 3 for 2 offer instead. I managed to get all three items for just £7.49 which is a pretty good deal if you ask me.

If you've read any of my wishlists then a while back I lusted after this pale yellow which is shade 307 Lemon Ice Cream. In my wishlist from a couple of days ago, I spoke about the Essie nail varnish in the shade DJ Play That Song, and this 303 Bright Purple looks like a very similar colour at a fraction of the price. I'm obsessed with Barry M nail polishes as they're very smooth and as you can see from the picture above, have a very lovely shine. Application is a dream as the brush allows the polish to glide onto the nail smoothly, and paired with a base and top coat, chipping is reduced to a minimum.

This lip paint looks extremely dark in the top picture, but you can see its true colour and warmth in the picture directly above. I wanted to venture away from red and nude, and find a nice middle ground to glam up an outfit. This is the perfect colour for just that. It's a real pinky plum colour which I think is gorgeous. I tested it when I got home and it has a really creamy and smooth texture making application very easy. I've always liked Barry M lip products but with this being so dark, I'll have to see what happens when I wear it all night. Smudging isn't a good look, but hopefully I'll be just as impressed with the durability as I am with the colour.

This picture is what going to the gym and a tiresome day of revision does to your hair. Not great. Anyway, I thought I'd give you a little taste of what the lip paint looks like on. Once I wear it out I'll do a full review and post some more pictures. I'm really happy with my mini haul and have some lovely items to try out soon. For £17.49 I feel I definitely got my money's worth. Is there anything you plan to purchase on your next haul?
