Brownie Bowl

If you're a baking novice, hate all the faffing around it requires or just love a quick and simple recipe then keep reading. Also, it'll help if you love chocolate brownies just as much as I do. One of my very first posts was about 1 minute mug cake, but this a brownie version in a bowl. Why is this better? 1 - because brownies are way tastier than cake and 2- it's in a bowl, therefore there is way more to scoff. As much as I love baking, one of the things I hate is all the fancy ingredients it requires. I usually read the ingredient list knowing I'm stocked up on sugar, flour and butter, but when it gets to crushed walnuts, evaporated milk and vanilla pods, I tend to close the tab and surrender. This recipe however, can be followed with complete ease because every single item will be in your kitchen cupboard. If you're a student you may not have flour and drinking chocolate, but they are super cheap to pick up if you grab a supermarket's own brand.

Ingredients
SR flour
Sugar
Drinking chocolate powder OR cocoa powder
Butter OR margarine
Salt
Water

So, let me start from the top. There's no folding, beating or elaborate whisking in this process, you quite literally throw two tablespoons of butter, four tablespoons of self-raising flour, four tablespoons of sugar, 2 tablespoons of drinking chocolate or cocoa, a pinch of salt and some water into a bowl. Next, you mix. Use as much water as necessary to create the same consistency as a normal cake or brownie mix. Do you want to know the best thing about this? You don't even need to wait for half an hour while it cooks, just pop it in the microwave for 1 minute and let it work its magic. If you like it gooey then microwave for 50-60 seconds, but if you'd prefer it a little more cakey then microwave for 70-80 seconds.

Once you remove it from the microwave all there is to do is indulge. This recipe is the completely fuss-free so there's no real reason not to try it. A nice cuppa or a big glass of milk works wonders with it too. Have you ever made this? What did you think?
