Saturday Haul

Saturday, 13 April 2013

I haven't treated myself to anything exciting recently as my money has slowly diminished after paying for uni accommodation, a 2 week food shop and a new key card after regrettably losing mine. Boo. After a lovely lie in this morning me and the girls decided to pop into town. I decided that I'd give myself a £30 budget and treat myself to a few new bits and pieces. £30 might not seem like a lot to you, but when you're budgeting week in week out and have no regular income, £30 feels luxurious.

I knew I wanted to get a few new tops and New Look is always my go-to shop when I'm on a budget. I spotted this really cute lace floaty crop top and knew I had to have it. If you're a regular reader you'll know I'm a little in love with crop tops and they always seem to come home with me. Today was no excuse. This crop was was only £12.99 and will be great for the summer with a pair of denim shorts. It can also be worn casually with jeans and a leather jacket or I can team it with a statement necklace for a night out. I've seen a lot of bright aztec crop tops in New Look over the past few weeks and really wanted to get my hands on one. I usually steer away from bright colours because I don't think I can pull them off, but I thought I'd jump in the deep end and just go for it. Sometimes change is nice. The aztec crop was a mere £9.99 and will also be great for the summer. I took full advantage of my student card and my total New Look purchase came to £20.60.

Superdrug was our next stop and since I've started religiously reading other people's blogs I now find it impossible to go into Superdrug or Boots without buying something. I used to use the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder but for some reason which I can't quite remember, I stopped using it. I have however been convinced to jump on the bandwagon again because most beauty bloggers seem to love it, so I bought it for £3.99. I haven't got a pressed powder in my make-up bag at the moment because I think they make my skin look a little bit fluffy, but with my new make-up brushes in hand, I'm hoping I'll love this product as much as you all do. I've also read some really great things about MUA products but have never really bothered buying anything because I didn't think products that were so cheap would be any good. I did however pick up the MUA heaven and earth eyeshadow palette which includes 12 different shades ranging from creams and bronzes, to browns and golds for £4. I'll do a full review on these once I've used them for a few weeks. My last purchase of the day was Barry M's 3 in 1 base coat, top coat and nail hardener which was £2.99. I'm a regular user of this product and it was a simple case of restocking. I also used my NUS Extra card in Superdrug and all three products came to £9.88. I was pretty impressed that I only managed to go 48p over budget.

These are my Saturday haul purchases, what are you going to buy on your next haul?
